The Nebraska Writing Project runs multipule camps for Young Writers across the state of Nebraska! We offer versions of this camp in Lincoln and OUT WEST!
Young Writers Camp: Lincoln A two-week program for young writers to engage with multipule forms or writing!
Young Writers Camp: OUT WEST -- A one-day camp in Gering, NE, for young writers to participate in writing workshops!
Young Writers Camp (Grades 8-12)
The Young Writers Camp offers a two-week program (Monday through Friday, 10am-1pm) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. We offer workshops in slam poetry, fiction, non-fiction, fantasy, mystery, song-writing, poetry, memoir, and screen writing! Young writers work with professional writers, professors, teachers, and undergraduate interns! Grades 8-12
In addition to attending camp and working with accomplished writers in the community, you will:
- Work one-on-one with a writing mentor
- Have your work collected in a YWC Anthology
- Give a public reading of your work in a celebration of writing on the evening of the final day of camp

Dates: July 13 - 24
UNL City Campus
10 am - 1 pm weekdays
Camp is open to all aspiring young writers, grades 8-12.
Cost of camp: $250. Scholarships available! Email Stacey Waite at swaite2@unl.edu for information about scholarships and programs. All Writes Reserved poets are eligible for discounts. Car pools from Omaha often available.
YWC OUT WEST
2026 Young Writers Camp: OUT WEST!
Young Writers Camp OUT WEST will be a one-day camp in Gering, NE! It is an opportunity for Young Writers in the western part of the state to participate in writing workshops with other young writers and great facilitators! There will be the opportunity to engage with multiple different forms of writing, including fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and even roleplay games.
Camp is open to all aspiring young writers, grades 8-12.
Cost: $50 (Scholarships are available; email Rachael Shah (rshah@unl.edu) for more information).
